Isabella Montalvo, LAC, LAAT, is a Primary Therapist at Advanced Health and Education dedicated to supporting adults navigating mental health and substance use disorders. Inspired early in life by personal experiences and a deep desire to help others, Isabella pursued a career focused on walking alongside individuals in their healing journeys.

She attended Caldwell University, where she completed an accelerated dual-degree program, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus in Art Therapy in 2020, followed by a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Art Therapy in 2024. Her academic training provided a strong foundation in evidence-based counseling practices while also emphasizing the therapeutic power of creative expression.

During her graduate training, Isabella completed two years of clinical internships in both recovery and mental health treatment centers, working across Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) levels of care. Following graduation, she gained additional experience providing individual therapy and art therapy services within a co-occurring IOP and outpatient setting before joining the team at Advanced Health and Education.

As a Primary Therapist, Isabella works with adults experiencing mental health and substance use challenges, utilizing a collaborative and client-centered approach to foster meaningful, lasting change. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with art therapy interventions, offering clients alternative, nonverbal avenues of expression when words feel overwhelming or difficult to access. She is particularly passionate about helping individuals reconnect with themselves through creativity, emotional processing, and skill development.

Isabella finds the work deeply rewarding and feels honored to support clients in their recovery. She remains committed to continued professional growth and expanding her ability to serve individuals with empathy, authenticity, and clinical excellence.

Outside of her clinical work, Isabella values creativity, connection, and balance. She enjoys painting, photography, and designing tattoo stencils, viewing creativity as both self-expression and restoration. She prioritizes quality time with her husband, pets, and family, and believes that maintaining personal wellbeing allows her to show up fully for the individuals she serves — bringing compassion, presence, and grounded support into every session.
