Dr. David Hu , MD

Dr. David Hu, MD, serves as the Medical Director at Advanced Health and Education. He is dual board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine, with over 20 years of experience in inpatient psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment settings.

Dr. Hu earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from New York University in 1996 before completing his Doctor of Medicine (MD) at NYU Grossman School of Medicine in 2000. He went on to complete his residency in Psychiatry at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he served as Psychiatric Chief Resident from 2003 to 2004. He has been licensed to practice medicine since 2000.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hu has held key leadership positions within prominent behavioral health organizations. He served as Medical Director at Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches from 2015 to 2021 and later as Vice President and Medical Director for Zinnia Health from 2021 to 2025. In addition to his executive leadership roles, he has worked extensively as an inpatient psychiatrist at addiction and mental health treatment centers, providing direct care to individuals with complex psychiatric and substance use disorders.

Dr. Hu is highly skilled in inpatient psychiatric care, psychopharmacology, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). His clinical approach integrates evidence-based addiction medicine with comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and medication management to support long-term recovery and mental wellness.

He is currently licensed in multiple states and also operates a private practice, Gemini Behavioral Health, where he continues to provide psychiatric and addiction treatment services. As Medical Director at Advanced Health and Education, Dr. Hu oversees medical programming and ensures the highest standards of clinical excellence, patient safety, and evidence-based care.
